Welcome to Elgin & Moray Flyers

Started in 2009 and based in Elgin, Morayshire. We are very fortunate to have the use of Milltown aerodrome, a disused airfield 4 miles from Elgin. Due to the unrestricted area around us and concrete take off areas we are able to fly anything from gliders to jets.

We run weekly training nights in the spring and summer and organise regular fly-ins that any SAA member is welcome to attend. As our club has only recently formed our facilities are limited but with new members joining every month it will not be long before we are fully established. Anyone wishing to join or just in the area visiting can contact Nick on 01343 541025 for details.

Milltown airfield can be found 2 miles from the A96 on the Lossiemouth road, please note access to the site is restricted to members or guests.

Spring Fly In 15th April 2012. Our first Fly In of the year everyone welcome to fly as long as they have insurance. I have filled in the diary for 2012 with the dates of events at Innes House, could people please take note of these dates and avoid flying on them. This has been a long standing agreement that we have had with Innes House so can all members or guests please abide by this agreement, so no flying at all on these dates. Thank you in advance.

I have set up a group on Facebook for Elgin and Moray Flyers, if you have a facebook account let me know and I will link you to it. My user name is Nick East. I will e mail Sandy about putting a link on the site to Facebook. The Facebook account will only be available to view by club members, bit like the "masons"!

I am trying to put together dates for events in 2012. I have looked at the calendar to try and work out a weekend for the Spring Fly In, my first choice was the weekend of the 15th of April. After the success of last years event, weather was the main factor in this, I was asked if the Fly In could be held over Sat & Sunday allowing people to get a full days flying. So that is what we are planning to do this year.
As of yet the SAA have not declared a date for the annual airshow, or a venue for that matter. It's normally the first week in May, you can check this out by keeping an eye on their new web site which is: http://modelflyingscotland.org/. Every body I have spoken to agrees that if the show is held somewhere central then it could be hugely popular, we will just have to wait and see what happens.
If any other clubs members have dates for their fly in's then please advise us of them and we shall put them on the calendar.
I would just like to wish everyone a happy new year for next week and would like to thank everyone who helped to make our club successfull in 2011.
